American Cruise Lines has over nine Mississippi River itineraries ranging from 5 to 22 days in length, plus wonderful theme cruises throughout the year. From Civil War and Mark Twain cruises to Culinary and Holiday cruises there is something for everyone in 2020.

In the New Year, delve deep into the history of the Civil War on American Cruise Lines' special Mississippi River theme cruises which explore the music, history, and culture of the Lower Mississippi. In 2020, American has two unique 8-day itineraries that are Civil War-themed; an 8-day cruise between Memphis and New Orleans and an 8-day cruise roundtrip from New Orleans.

American's Civil War-themed cruises explore many of the Mississippi River's most fascinating historical sites and dock in the most storied towns along its banks. Every cruise on American's small, new ships offers all-inclusive fine cuisine and award-winning enrichment, featuring onboard experts and entertainers who bring the history and culture of the Mississippi to life. Cruises also feature small group guided shore excursions at every port of call.

Guests on American's Civil War cruises will experience specially curated tours of antebellum plantations such as Oak Alley, Frogmore, and Rosedown. At each, they will hear stories about southern life from passionate experts who illuminate each place with captivating details. Guests will also visit Vicksburg National Military Park, where expert guides tour guests through the battlefields made famous during the Civil War, as well as the USS Cairo. In beautiful Natchez, guests are treated to a private concert and tour at the J.N. Stone House and a visit to Longwood, epitomizing the rise and fall of the old South. American's cruises visit the most significant historic sites at every port of call, also offering shore tours in St. Francisville and Baton Rouge, and of course Memphis and New Orleans.

All American's cruises departing from New Orleans or Memphis offer a wonderful complimentary pre-cruise package including hotel and transportation to the ship. For cruises originating in Memphis, American also offers a fun, two-night pre-cruise package with VIP tickets to Graceland and a stay in the Guest House Hotel right next door. American Cruise Lines' 2020 Civil War Theme cruise dates: 3/22, 4/12, 4/18, 5/2, 5/10, 5/16, 5/23, 6/6, 6/14, 7/11 and 11/7.

2020 Civil War-themed cruises are aboard paddlewheelers America and Queen of the Mississippi, or aboard American's newest modern riverboat, American Harmony. All American's ships accommodate 100-200 passengers.
